At Dr.Dropin Psychology, we follow recognised UK clinical guidelines for the assessment of Adult ADHD. Our HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologists conduct a thorough, evidence-based evaluation, with the goal of ensuring an accurate diagnosis and appropriate follow-up. Please note that completing an assessment does not automatically mean an ADHD diagnosis will be made — steps may be extended or adjusted depending on clinical complexity or co-occurring mental health conditions.

1. Discovery Call & Pre-Assessment Review
The process begins with an optional free 15-minute Discovery Call to clarify expectations, discuss costs, and identify any exclusion criteria or urgent clinical risk concerns. This is followed by digital questionnaires covering current and childhood symptoms, functional impairment, mental health, and substance use, reviewed by an HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist.

2. Clinical Assessment & Diagnostic Interview
An in-depth clinical and developmental assessment explores presenting difficulties, developmental history, education, occupational functioning, and physical health, ruling out other possible explanations for your symptoms. This is followed by a detailed diagnostic interview evaluating current and childhood ADHD symptoms and their real-life impact.

3. Collateral Evidence, Integration & Feedback
A structured interview with someone who knew you during childhood confirms developmental history (or historical records are reviewed where unavailable). Your psychologist then brings all the clinical evidence together, authors a comprehensive report, and presents the diagnostic conclusion, formulation, and personalised recommendations at a dedicated feedback session.

What is ADHD?
ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is a neurobiological developmental condition that affects the brain's ability to regulate attention, impulse control and activity level. It affects both children and adults, though symptoms can present differently depending on age and gender.
Do I need a GP referral?
No — you do not need a referral from your GP to book an Adult ADHD assessment with us. You can start with a free Discovery Call directly.
Will I get a diagnosis on the first appointment?
No. A reliable diagnosis requires the full structured pathway — clinical interviews, collateral evidence, and integration of all findings — in line with recognised UK clinical guidelines. Completing the assessment does not automatically mean a diagnosis will be made.
Can the assessment be carried out digitally?
Yes, the full Adult ADHD assessment pathway can be completed via video consultation, or in person at our Fulham clinic.
Do you prescribe ADHD medication?
No. We provide comprehensive psychological assessment and diagnosis. If medication is requested following diagnosis, we will support you with a referral to an appropriately qualified prescribing clinician.
Will my NHS GP accept a private diagnosis?
Acceptance of a private diagnosis or a Shared Care Agreement by an NHS GP cannot be guaranteed. We recommend checking with your GP practice beforehand.
What are the symptoms of ADHD in adults?

Is ADHD common in women?

Can ADHD be managed without medication?
